Day 27 - March 18, 2010 - Coast to Coast

From the Stoker:

We never forget to mention the bad weather we experience, but forgot to mention the wonderful weather we had yesterday and it was a repeat today. We only biked 32 miles today from Alpine to Marathon, TX. We loaded up the bike and drove south about 60 miles to Big Bend National Park. We will spend a day or two hiking and taking photos. We have a goal to visit ever National Park in the U.S. and knew we would never be in this area of Texas again and wanted to give Carol something else to see and do besides supporting us.

None of us are crazy about the desert, too brown and too much dust but all the literature promises more than that. Once we set up camp in Big Bend RV Park just outside of the N.P. in Terlingua, TX and had dinner, we headed out for some sunset pictures. We took a few but were not overly impressed.

We have a day of hiking and driving tomorrow and are hoping to get a good look at this huge park and see some beauty.

Once we leave here on Sunday, we have some heavy biking to do. No more family to visit, sights to see, and NO MORE RAIN AND COLD.

  1. John and I always said we would like to visit every National Park too (I think you are waaaaay ahead of us, however). Big Bend should be lots of fun - looking forward to pictures - may be a nice diversion "from the road".

    Love, Barb & John
