From the Captain:
We left Kent, Texas under a cloudy misty sky. We dressed in full winter clothes knowing that we would be climbing to 6300 ft. elevation with the temperature dropping as we reached the peak. Although we rode 38 miles up to the peak, it was virtually all climbing because of the continuous rolling hills.
At the peak was the McDonal Observatory which has public viewing thru their telescopes at dark. Unfortunately, this is spring break week and the show was so crowed that we had to settle for looking through their smaller telescopes. It still was exciting to see Saturn, Mars, and other constellations. The sky was crystal clear and we have never seen so many stars.
We want to thank Prude Guest Ranch in Fort Davis, TX, 432-426-3202 for their generous discount to help our cause.
I have already posted the pictures. Sorry, maybe too tired and little unorganized (from the stoker).
