Day 42 - April 5, 2010 - Coast to Coast

From the Stoker: We are celebrating tonight. We biked 65 miles from Kountze, TX to Marysville, LA. We are out of Texas and as happy as every other biker we talk to. Texas is just too big and you feel like you aren't accomplishing anything by not entering a new state for 21 days of biking.
We crossed the Louisiana border with another couple, all of us so anxious to take a picture welcoming us into LA. All we got was a little sign telling us what parish we were entering. We celebrated anyway with a picture of the dumb sign and by swatting the bugs away.
We don't tell Carol often enough and we don't mention how much we appreciate her in our blog. Every biker we have met (at least 15) are all hauling their gear on their bike and tenting most nights with occasional stops in crummy motels. Here we are, no gear to carry, seeing our camper and trailer sitting on the side of the road every hour or so, a warm or cool place to eat and sleep, and most importantly, somebody worrying about us.
She's had a couple stressful weeks getting lost, getting stuck on a road with no turn around and finding it difficult to back the rig up and a lady running into the corner of the cargo trailer. She almost bought a ticket home but I guess her love for us keeps her going. She loves it when we go through a town with a McDonald and a Walmart. Unfortunately, there aren't many of them. We could not being fulfilling this dream of ours without her because tenting just wouldn't happen. Thank you Carol and we love you.
