TOTAL MILES BIKED: 1,806
From the Stoker: Wow! It's getting hot, 89 today. We biked 56 miles from Navasota to Pumpkin, TX. Still many hills but such beautiful country. We biked many of the miles through Sam Houston National Forest (again reminding us and Carol of Michigan). We passed Conroe Lake which is huge and was very busy with boat traffic. I have to admit, I got a little lonesome for home. The flowers are still beautiful. The pruple/lavender Wisteria tree/vine was growing in abundance along side the road, some as high as 50 feet or more. I could smell them before I even saw them.
We should have another day or two of hills and them be out of Texas and biking on some flat roads. We just finished talking to a young couple that are traveling east to west and informed us about the terrible roads in Louisiana. You know what, we'll take rough roads instead of hills. It's funny how we complain, I truly think we are getting used to them. We averaged over 12 mph today over constant rolling hills for 56 miles. Not bad for us old folks.
