January 20, 2010 - Coast to Coast

We have had 16 days of training, 363 miles, and 3 trips up Trans Mountain (1300 ft. in 5 miles). We have not had any serious injuries, just mild aches, pains, and stiffness that is taken care of with a couple motrin (we should buy some motrin stock).

We still have some small problems with the bike and Dick spends most of our rest days trying to solve them.

We have had sunny days, some warm and some cool, actually cold if we start riding too early in the morning. Yesterday was the hardest training day we have ever had. It was sunny and warm but the wind was gusting so severly it would move us sideways two to three feet. We spent a great deal of the 64 miles in the smallest (granny) gear we have and couldn't travel any faster that 6mph. Our trips up Trans Mountain are easy compared to yesterday. We were both recovered this morning so decided to do a short 20 miler. It turned into an 18 miler because the wind was worse than yesterday. Tomorrow we will have a well deserved rest day.
